Type Locality and Naming

Along the Tolubay area, Chauvay ore deposit, South Fergana. G.S. Porshnyakov, G.A. Yarushinsky in 1956 (176, p.24). Stratotype on the right bank of the Chauvay River.

Synonym: Tolubai Suite, Толубайская св.


Lithology and Thickness

Complex interbedding of sandstones, siltstone (aleurolites), clayey, carbonaceous-clayey, siliceous and calcareous shales, limestones, gravelites, conglomerates. In some places at the base of the mountain (thickness. 10-70m) conglomerates. Thickness is up to 100-400 to 1000 m.


Lithology Pattern:

Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

Lies with erosion or in a continuous section on the rocks of the Andygen Gr - Kauzan Fm and, less often, Shyut Fm

Upper contact

Overlying unknown.

Regional extent

South Fergana, northern foothills of the Alai Range.
